ESPN is for gamers, not casual watchers

While this might seem like a great idea, it’s only great for those who ever wanted more. I however never wanted more. I want less. I don’t want a cable connection, I don’t want a large TV; I don’t want the $100/month bill, and certainly don’t want most of what I have to get, just to get some UEFA football. The bar down the street may well suffice for now. ESPN will have to have the “mobile gaming” experience that the iPhone brought for it to wake up. The hard-core-gaming market is saturated; so soon will be the hard-core sports-fanbase. Or so I hope.

via Microsoft demos ESPN Xbox SmartGlass integration, coming later this month The Verge.
